    The Insta-Perfect Backlash

Joanna Feeley, Managing Director and Founder of Trend Bible, recently shared her top ten parenting trend predictions for the year ahead.

One of the trends was centred around a backlash to the perfect lives portrayed on Instagram and Facebook. In 2017, parents will enjoy moments together with their children regardless of mess and chaos, showing a realistic portrayal of family life, warts and all. Wren Kitchen’s campaign, ‘A Kitchen Lived In’ involved teaming up with five influential bloggers to find out what life really looks like behind the Instagram filter.

Why Staying In is the New Going Out

Going clubbing is no longer a high priority for Millennials. In fact, a survey by Media Post suggested that 75% of Millennials said they’d rather stay in than go out at night. Choosing to swipe right rather than meet someone in a club, ordering takeaways or cooking at home rather than going to a restaurant and binge watching Netflix from the sofa are now the more desired activities for this generation.

This mindset is placing focus on the home and how it is designed and decorated to accommodate such behaviours. For Millennials, the home is the place for socialising therefore finding the balance between functionality and style is important. With this we have seen a rise in luxe barware. According to wayfair.co.uk, drinks trolley sales increased by almost 200% in 2016. Displaying stylish bottles, bar accessories and glassware amongst decorative accessories and plants in the home is now a trend many are adopting.

In our 'Future of Alcohol series' we are exploring how changes in consumer behaviour are effecting the industry. Click here to read the entire post or here to read part one, where we looked 'Beyond Alcohol Consumption.'

    Trend Tracking in Stockholm

As part of our intelligence gathering process, Trend Bible constantly track and monitor the most prominent and forward-thinking stores, events and places internationally. On a recent trip to Stockholm, Managing Director, Joanna Feeley and Senior Trend Strategist, Naomi Shedden, highlighted a selection of trends they tracked during their design filled visit.

“It’s tempting to think of Scandi design as being cool, clean and minimal,” said Joanna, “but heritage Swedish textiles are bold and graphic. Svenskt Tenn florals were a particular highlight for cushions and furniture, and patterns of differing print and scale were happily clashed together.”
